In 1951, Harvey Cleland began working as a sheet metal apprentice for Harold Meyer, the President of Meyer Heating and Air Conditioning of Hammond, Indiana. It was not long after beginning his career that Harvey was inducted into the Navy. After his term of service was completed, Harvey resumed his career and became a salesman for Harold Meyer.

His attention to detail, product knowledge, and salesmanship enabled the company to expand into a wider range of residential heating and cooling products and services.

Harvey grew to be President of the Meyer Companies and led an organization steeped in customer service and quality products. Not long after, Meyers Electric and Meyers Plumbing were formed. The division of the company into two companies enabled them to focus on their respective areas of expertise and service their customers efficiently as two entities. In 1985, the plumbing and electric companies moved to Griffith, Indiana, and formed the Meyers Heating and Cooling Company, which included the entire staff from the original Hammond location.

In 2007, the Meyers Heating and Cooling Company was acquired by a team of professionals with years of experience in the industry and a dedication to quality and customer service. Together, they worked to leverage the successes that the Meyer Companies have enjoyed over the years, the tradition of quality products and services, and the complete dedication to customer satisfaction.
